About The Organization Management In Terms Of Quality (Research Paper Sample) Content: Quality ManagementBy (Name)The Name of the Class (Course)Professor (Tutor)The Name of the School (University)The DateAbstractFor the success of the company, evaluation of the companys performance is key, and for improvement, it should be done in a manner that is consistent. The organization to do so, standards are set by themselves and compared to the other organizations with similar products. The paper deals with benchinmarking of an avionic engineering company called Smiths Industries PLC. The benchmark was done in the commercial organization for avionic engineering with products such as airspeed indicator. Various methods of data collection were employed during the exercise.Table of Contents TOC \o "1-3" \h \z \u Abstract PAGEREF _Toc502080473 \h 21.0 Introduction PAGEREF _Toc502080474 \h 42.0 Study of the organization PAGEREF _Toc502080475 \h 62.1 Comparisons PAGEREF _Toc502080476 \h 73.0 Data collection methods PAGEREF _Toc502080477 \h 84.0 Conclusion PAGEREF _T oc502080478 \h 95.0 Recommendations PAGEREF _Toc502080479 \h 10References PAGEREF _Toc502080480 \h 111.0 IntroductionThe process of benchmarking is where the organization propducts, services and practices are measured againsts competitors who are tough or the organizations which are known to be leaders in the industry of the company. The managers use bechmarking as the tool to know the performance index of the company especially in the effiency functioning of an organization if the cost of the company is similar to those of rivals, and the need for improvement in the companys business process and activities (Bogan and English, 1994). Therefore, the benchmarking idea to to compare the internal performance of an organization with ouside standards. From bencmarking, the company is able to learn from the other companies which perform best and in particular functions and activities and hence imitating or produce even more quality products by improving further on their procedures of prod uctions. The focus of benchmarking is comparisons of the organization to organizations and functions are made (Bogan and English, 1994). The activies benchmarking may look are, purchased materials. How suppliers are paid, how management of inventories are done, training of the employees, processing of the payrolls, the fastesness the company can acquire the new product from the mrket, performance of the quality function, the customer's orders are shipped and filled, and finally, the company equipment maintenacence are done.Benchmarking also helps in determination of practice that is the best, prioritizing of the opportunities to be improved, enhancement of the customers expectance relative to the performance, and the cycle of change traditional to leapfrog by the organization (Boxwell, 1994). It furthermore, enables the company mangers to comprehend the most efficient and accurate ways of activity performance, how cost are achieved, and action to be taken for competitiveness improvem ent in the company. As a consequence, competitive advantage is the main tool companies have achieved from. When the company undertake to benchmark, it has view several improvements it wants to offer to its customers (Boxwell, 1994). The importance of benchmarking are cost of the labor is reduced, work flow through the engineering process of an organization is streamlined, and administrative systems that are common, through consolidation and downsizing, data operation center is improved, lead to information technology and cooperative business, lead to new technology implementation, some functions and assignments are outsourced, supporting processes and the development are redesigned, lead to reorganization ad restructuring of the functions of the information technology (Boxwell, 1994).Figure SEQ Figure \* ARABIC 1: Benchmarking process flow diagramThe benchmarking in this study occur in the Smith Industries PLC that produces avionic products and major on the airspeed indicator (Paul , 1989). The company deals with production of electronic products. The benchmarking activities in this company took 12 months. Smiths Industries PLC which is a multinational organization with its main business in the aerospace electronics or avionic products such as ASI instruments, appliances, medical instruments and supplies of specialized products that are industrial. The reputation of the company is high because of the design and production of the avionic products which are of high technology for the commercial aircrafts market, vehicles, marine fighting aircrafts and military aircrafts. This product with majoring in the Airspeed Indicator ASI, it was through a series of self-evaluation as the company and strategic planning to remain relevant in the market and improve technology. The companies headquarter situated in London and steadily, it has expanded throughout the world in sales and manufacturing of avionic products and now is in about 51 countries worldwide (Paul, 1989).2.0 Study of the organizationASI is the Airspeed Indicator that is a Pitot-static gadget. It is used in the aircraft to show the airspeed of the craft which is indicated in knots (Cutts, 2002). The accomplishment of the airspeed indication is by the use of a thin phosphor bronze that is corrugated diaphragm or aneroid that dynamic pressure is measured between the static port or static pressure and the Pitot tube or ram air. Difference between the ambient or static air pressure and the whole pressure triggered by the movement through the air by aircraft is called dynamic pressure. The basic function of the airspeed indicator is to give way in the time of landing, descent and climbing. The designing of the ASI began in the year 1914 when the Government of Britain contracted sons and Smith to come up with various products for use in the war effort (Paul, 1989). As the war progressed and the British Isles were drained of manpower and material goods, the government called upon Smith Sons ad ditional product they had to put in the airplane was wire rope, lamps signal, airplane engine spark plug and fuss of the shell (Education UK. Burbank, 1986). By the year 1997, Smith Industries had come up with the Cliff Airspeed Indicator which is up to date most used in the aviation industry as airspeed indicator.2.1 ComparisonsComparison to Kinetic Avionic Products Limited that is specialized to avionic products production, Smith Industries emerge to be top because has a worldwide reputation recognition in the aviation electrical products such as airspeed indicator compared to its them, because of the international recognition, high quality product with accuracy in the design measurement of the airspeed indicator. The materials used in making the air indicator in Smith Industries PLC are durable than one use in Kinetic Avionic Product Limited. The airspeed indicators from Kinetic Avionic Product Limited are their efficiency is low in terms of giving the exact amount of air the aircraft is producing which make falls prediction of the speed of the aircraft which is not the case in Smith Industries Limited. Therefore, the Smith company out do others because of assurance of the civil aircraft instrumentation market was assured (Smith and Fleck, 1987). Also, the way of solving the problem in the company and strategic management is what keeps it at the leading edge which is not in the case to the Kinetic Avionic Product Limited Company despite having well designers and specialist in the field of manufacturing airspeed indicators for aircrafts (O'sullivan and Dougan, 1990)Process mapping flowchart3.0 Data collection methodsThe data collection from benchmarking company can be from itself, or use the secondary data information gathered from the websites, press, and publications. The method of data collection use is explanatory research, qualitative research, market research, conservation information, questionnaires and interviews. The data collection methodology u sed by the company during its primary research in benchmarking process, it needs to be redefined. Questionnaire and standard format of the interview in the carrying out of the company basic research through, e-mail, telephone, interviews of face to face site observations and the use of documents like systematic manner data is significant for the success of the benchmarking in the company (Bogan and English, 1994).4.0 ConclusionBenchmarking adds significant values to the company in terms of workflow and identificatio...
